 A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional trained to collect blood specimens for laboratory testing, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients.  

Phlebotomists collect blood using venipuncture and microcollection techniques. They also:

• Verify patient identity
• Label and process specimens correctly
• Enter patient information into electronic records
• Follow infection control and safety procedures
• Handle biohazard materials appropriately
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Provide professional and compassionate patient care

 The ProLab Solutions Phlebotomy program is completed in 4 weeks
 

Phlebotomists are employed in a variety of healthcare settings, including:

• Hospitals
• Physician offices
• Medical clinics
• Diagnostic laboratories
• Urgent care centers
• Blood donation centers
• Home healthcare agencies

  Yes. Students who successfully complete the ProLab Solutions Phlebotomy program receive a Certificate 

• Valid State ID
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Previous medical - preferred
• 18 yrs or older

 Yes. Students receive supervised, hands-on training in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques during the program and will perform venipuncture and capillary draws in class.

 No. While ProLab Solutions prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue employment, job placement is not guaranteed.
