 A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional trained to collect blood specimens for laboratory testing, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients.  


  

Phlebotomists collect blood using venipuncture and microcollection techniques. They also:

  • Verify patient identity
  • Label and process specimens correctly
  • Enter patient information into electronic records
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures
  • Handle biohazard materials appropriately
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Provide professional and compassionate patient care


 The ProLab Solutions Phlebotomy program is completed in 4 weeks. 1 day a week
 


 

Phlebotomists are employed in a variety of healthcare settings, including:

  • Hospitals
  • Physician offices
  • Medical clinics
  • Diagnostic laboratories
  • Urgent care centers
  • Blood donation centers
  • Home healthcare agencies


  Yes. Students who successfully complete the ProLab Solutions Phlebotomy program receive a Certificate of Completion. 


 The national certification exam contains 100 or 120 multiple-choice questions. Depending on the exam version, you will have 2 hours to complete it. 


 

You must:

  • Complete your successful venipunctures and capillary sticks
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass the phlebotomy training class




 The national certification exam contains 100 or 120 multiple-choice questions. Depending on the exam version, you will have 2  hours to complete it. 


 A NHA certification is generally valid for  two years, depending on your country of residence. Renewal or recertification is required upon expiration. 


 Yes. Students receive supervised, hands-on training in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques during the program. 


 After successfully passing the national certification exam, your certification is typically issued in 5 days by mail. 


 

Students should bring:

  • A valid photo ID
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes
  • Any required course materials listed in the enrollment packet


 No. While ProLab Solutions prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue employment, job placement is not guaranteed.
